Well, it's official, Jessica has and will always have the award for "Best Blogger" of all of my friends! She always puts funny or weird stuff that happens to her on an everyday basis on her blog...I seem to forget those moments or think mine won't be nearly as funny! So kudos, Jess, on being an inspiration to all of us!
Anyways, most of my loyal readers ;) already know about the crazy stuff going on in our lives, but here's an update anyway.
We found out in mid November that (surprise!), we (read:me) are going to have a baby! Not real sure why people always say "we" are expecting. The guy's not the one hurling and peeing all the time! Anyway, we decided to keep it a secret for a little while. I really didn't think I would be able to keep it a secret until Christmas, but Ryan made me promise. I actually made it, although I came VERY close to calling a couple people several times.
So over Christmas, with the whole family gathered around opening presents, I slipped my Mom a card with my sonogram in it. Of course, she cried. And then everyone cheered...and then it was very awkward for us with all the attention on us and everyone asking questions for the rest of the night.
The next day, it was Take 2 and Take 3 with Ryan's parents and then with Ryan's whole extended family. So needless to say, we got more than our share of the attention. But everyone was so excited and kept telling us that everything would work out (even if Ryan has to deploy).
See, that was the kicker. We weren't really planning on getting pregnant until we found out if he was going for sure or not. But I guess God had other plans! So now we are waiting to hear some news about the possible deployment. Some rumors circulating say they might not go at all or they might only have to go for a shorter amount of time (like 6 months). So either of those I will take in a heartbeat over a whole year.
I don't want to complain even if he does have to go, because there are thousands of wives who will or have endured multiple year-long deployments of their husbands, including my courageous and dear friend Landi. So I think I've finally come to a point where I am fully trusting God's plan and decision. If it's His will for Ryan to go, then I will be okay with it. Thankfully, I have a wonderful support system at home that will help out with the baby and just the separation if that happens.
Right now, I'm pretty well consumed with this pregnancy. I'm crossing my fingers the nausea is almost done! :) Everything seems to be going fine as far as I know. Probably another 6-7 weeks before we'll know the sex. Ryan seems to be determined to take me to his clinic and try to figure it out himself on their ultrasound before we go to the doctor. :& Okay, whatever. Leave it to a vet. ;)
Hopefully will have some Christmas pics soon!
